Glossary

Termopile is the Polish word for Termopylae, a Greek-Persian battle, fought 480 B.C. The Poles called their defence of Westerplatte the "Polish Thermopylae".
Westerplatte is the promontory guarding the harbour entrance of Gdańsk.
