Wojciech Bogumil Jastrzębowski
Wojciech Bogumil Jastrzębowski, Polish biologist (1799-1882) who created the word ergonomics in 1857 in a philosophical narrative, "based upon the truths drawn from the Science of Nature" (Jastrzębowski, 1857). He derived the term "ergonomics" from two Greek words: "ergon", meaning work and "nomoi", meaning natural laws. Ergonomists study human capabilities in relationship to work demands.
Prekursor ergonomii = Forerunner of ergonomics.
