Zamość is a Renaissance town in southeast Poland, founded in 1580 by Jan Zamoyski, chancellor and Grand Hetman of the Crown, inspired by Italian architecture.
The city plan is an engraving by Abraham Hogenberg after the works of Georg Braun, called "Theatrum preciparum totius mundi urbium".
