Stanisława Walasiewiczówna (or Stanisława Walasiewicz) won an olympic gold medal in the 100 meter sprint race during the 1932 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, becoming the first woman ever to finish in less than 12 seconds. In the United States, she was known as Stella Walsh or Stella Walsh Olson.
