Glossary

Michał Kamieński (1879 - 1973), Polish astronomer, world expert on cometary orbits and the world’s leading authority on Halley’s Comet. Michał Kamieński was the director of the Vladivostok observatory between 1914 and 1919. He was professor of astronomy at the Warsaw University until 1923. He researched the orbits of the comets Wolf I and Halley and he calculated the periodicity of Halley’s Comet back to BC 9542.
In March 1986 ICE (United States), along with Giotto (Europe), Vega 1 and 2 (Soviet Union), Suisei and Sakigake (Japan), participated in rendezvous missions with Comet Halley.
